Founder of Novem Studio

Antje Bleek

Novem Studio began with the simple belief that a woman should never have to adapt herself to clothing that was not built around her body. This is why I make made-to-measure suits, blazers and trousers for women, shaped around their individual lives and bodies rather than a standard size.

From a very young age I was captivated by tailoring. There was something magical in the construction of a blazer, the architecture of it, the way it changes the presence of the person wearing it. That fascination took me to Jil Sander, where an apprenticeship on the factory floor taught me how a garment of great quality is built, and where I fell in love with fabric weight and shoulder lines. Over more than fifteen years since, I held senior design roles at Calvin Klein, shaping formalwear for the European market, and most recently led menswear as Head of Design for Formalwear at Hugo Boss.

I have touched thousands of fabrics and refined garments to the millimetre. But designing suits for men, inside one of the most considered tailoring systems there is, I could never find an equivalent that truly worked for me. After becoming a mother, I felt that contradiction even more clearly. The reason was never a lack of fashion. It was a lack of consideration.

Ready-to-wear asks which standard size sits closest to a woman's body. What she is usually offered is menswear made narrower. Novem Studio is my response, founded in Amsterdam in 2026. It asks how to build the garment around her, so that she does not have to choose. Fit or comfort. Structure or ease. Looking the part or being able to move in it. This is tailoring designed around real lives, through leadership, travel, work and everything quieter in between.

Technology can read a body precisely now. The judgement that turns those measurements into a garment which feels balanced and natural is the part I spent a career learning, and it shapes every Novem piece, each one built around one person from the first pattern.

I build the garment around you. What you do in it is yours.
